Verulam House Care Home, in the heart of the cathedral city of St Albans, Hertfordshire, is an oasis of calm in a busy and vibrant city.
The home provides residential, respite, palliative and nursing care in St Albans as well as physical disability and sensory impairment support.
An early 19th century Grade II listed building, Verulam House was previously the Bishop’s Palace, a school, a conference centre and even a maternity hospital during the Second World War. Beautifully converted to a care home nearly 20 years ago, both the house and grounds are steeped in history yet remain modern and accessible.

What a wonderful trip out to the abbey yesterday! 🌞 The weather was glorious, and Bill, Noel, and Renate seemed to really enjoy themselves. The staff at the abbey were so friendly and shared fascinating facts with us.
One of the guides even showed us some incredible technology that magically restored some of the 600-year-old paintings using a projector – it was breathtaking to see them come to life! 🎨✨
We are so lucky to live so close to this beautiful historical landmark. Verulam House has always had strong connections with the abbey, and it was lovely to see one of the deacons who visits us regularly.
